Copyright 2010 © Michael L Williams
Silenced in the Schoolhouse tells the story how:

  1. The Founding Fathers believed that the Gospel of Jesus Christ was the
foundation of our freedom and the model for our republic
  2. The Founding fathers were Biblically literate, believed Biblical literacy was
important to ensure our freedom, and should be taught in Schools
  3. The "separation of church and state" as defined today was not anything like
    Jefferson described in his letters
  4. Our courts and institutions of learning have a long history of claiming and
teaching that America is a Christian nation and affirming Christian education
  5. Biblical illiteracy in our schools is the root of America's cultural meltdown and
Christ-centered Biblical education is the only thing that will restore the nation
and more importantly give glory to Jesus Christ

Silenced in the Schoolhouse Book Summary
Chapter One
A Tenuous Position
The opening chapter begins with the account of the
British invasion of New York on August 22, 1776 from
the perspective of the Colonial and British Forces as
their activities related to their faith. This is intricately
woven with accounts of miraculous events that spared
the Colonial Army from certain destruction and the
debate that took place in Philadelphia concerning the
Declaration of Independence.
Chapter Two
Faith of our Fathers
This chapter addresses the claim that the founding
fathers were not Christians by detailing the evidence of
the faith of George Washington, John Adams, Thomas
Jefferson, Thomas Paine, Ben Franklin, John Hancock,
and Patrick Henry. This evidence of faith is recognized
by matching the Biblical references and theological
concepts that are indicated by the founding fathers'
writings, quotes, and testimonials of others that knew
them.
Chapter Three
Foundations of Faith
This chapter discusses the Biblical foundations that
were used in the founding of the nation. Discussion of
the techniques used by those that deny the faith of the
founding fathers is made and shown to be written from
a Biblically and Spiritually ignorant perspective.
Chapter Four
The Liberty of Love
Discussion of the founders' Biblical vision for liberty
and freedom and our from of government is made and
the role of the Holy Spirit in the same is shown.
Jefferson letters addressing the "separation of church
and state" are reviewed and clarified against current
opinion and political correctness.
Chapter Five
A Pneumocracy is Born
A deeper examination is made of the role of the Holy
Spirit in fostering public opinion and culture; serving as
a basis for laws, policies, and practices; and serving as
a model used for the executive, legislative, and judicial
activities of government (pneumocracy). Discussion of
the term religion is made and shown for its wide
ranging definition beyond organized religions.
Chapter Six
Biblical Roots of Education
Historical review of education is made and contrasted
through Biblical and non-Biblical cultures. Biblical
origins of education are examined and referenced as a
basis of the role of parents in educating their children
and the church's role in helping the parents in their role.
Chapter Seven
A Parallel Path of Education
Non-Biblical secular humanism is detailed and shown
for its role in influencing education. A review of its
historical origins is made through a summary of the
teachings of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle and the
adaptation of the same by the Roman Empire. Eventual
control of education by the Church of Rome is
discussed and shown how it effected the founders'
attitudes toward church-state relations.
Chapter Eight
Early American Education
An examination of colonial America's culture as it
relates to literacy, historical attitudes toward the abuses
of government run churches, and the role of the schools
in educating children is made. Biblical worldview and
how it affected early American education and culture is
contrasted with the rise of secular humanism. Likewise,
implementation of Biblically centered education on the
federal and state levels is shown and how it made its
way into law for new states. The rise of legal challenges
is discussed.
Chapter Nine
The Winds of Change
Discussion of the explosion of lawsuits and initial
judgements affirming the Christian roots and makeup of
the nation is shown. A gradual change in attitudes and
judgements is shown to permeate the educational
systems, which produces community and educational
leaders that reject the need for Biblically centered
education. The beginnings of religious persecution is
documented and shown as a result of the changes in
attitudes of the education systems' change to secular
humanistic models.
Chapter Ten
Out of Order
Examination of those responsible for educational
change are shown for their role in sowing the seeds of
discord in the culture. A link between their educational
philosophies and Darwinism and how they produced
the evolutionary psychology used to justify destructive
behaviors and relieve the individual form personal
accountability is shown.
Chapter Eleven
Fallout From Faithlessness
A discussion is made on the fallout that occurs because
of the elimination of Biblical faith as a part of the
educational system. Links are demonstrated that show
the rise of Adolph Hitler and Karl Marx based on
Darwin's teachings. Further ties to the rise of secular
humanistic liberalism both outside and inside the
church are shown and demonstrated in the handling of
operations during hurricane Katrina. The fallout is
further shown to be the underpinnings of the explosion
of mental illnesses and self destructive behaviors of
society.
Chapter Twelve
The Slippery Slope
The effects of secular humanism being taught in the
colleges is demonstrated in court decisions that ignore
the spirit and letter of the Constitution and redefine the
"separation of church and state" to create the belief that
the Constitution is a living document is shown. The
slippery slope of court decisions that lead to anarchy,
the unconstitutional overstepping of authority by
government, and the rise of international law that
threatens the family is shown. The raise of the private
school and home school movements is shown.
Chapter Thirteen
Connecting the Dots
A direct connection of educational philosophies and
American culture is shown. Examination of how the
culture becomes self-perpetuating through the Circle of
worldview of the individual and personal behaviors is
made and how those person behaviors affect the of
those in America with a Biblical worldview and those
without is shown and contrasted with Biblical accounts
of the same with Israel. Biblical solutions to the
problem are listed.
Chapter Fourteen
Rebuilding the Foundations
Logical Biblical solutions that will rebuild the
foundations of the nation are discussed. The role of the
individual, the family, and the church in this effort are
clarified. The teaching of Biblical directives for the
church and the individual from Acts 2 is investigated and
ideas are offered for both. A summary of the
connections between the culture and the responsibility
of each individual as Ambassadors for Christ is shown
and a final exaltation and encouragement is offered to
direct us toward the mission at hand.
